I have my mornings free and actually had a PTO day yesterday since we were throwing my daughter's birthday party.  I had a busy day scheduled:  Fish with Andrew (owner of SCR Custom Rods), then run all the way up into the redneck jungle of Vista to meet up with the elusive Sasquatch for his 60th birthday, then run home and get everything ready for company and the a party at my place for my daughter.

Andrew had to bail since he had a 12.5 hour shift thrown at him, so I fished anyway.  I ran down to TP and it was already packed at 6:30 am.  200 surfers up and down the beach as well as 25-35 surf fishermen and people setting up tents on the beach.

Water looked good until I started casting the YoZuri Hydro minnow.  Grass every cast.  I walked all the way to Delmar and couldn't find a clean spot.  I also only saw one guy catch a really big BSP!  Probably 14-15 inches and it was a doozie.

I refused to cut back on the size of gear because I wanted a glory fish.  2 hours in and the crowds started to get really thick!  Then I was twitching the lure and BAM!  ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz!  I got pretty excited and all sorts of fish were running through my head.  Then in the wave, I see it.... What?  Again?

Probably a 17-18" zebra perch with the big ass treble right in his back!  Well, it wasn't the fish that I was hoping for, but still quite the fun fight and really cool to get my hands on such a big chub!

I made my way back to the truck and took off.  Steve still lived 45 minutes away from TP and it was an adventure just getting there.

Well, I'll download pictures later and fill in with some more stories later since the data dump just happened and I'm sitting here at work in a completely empty building except for me and a security guard.

I'll get the photos uploaded when I'm done here and get home.
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

I always forget they exist, but they're such a cool fish. Maybe I gotta go hit the surf jetties with some peas in search of one soon. Nice to hear you hit the surf.
