I needed some fishing time, but I needed some relaxing time more.  My wife and daughter were apparently attached to this full moon and I needed some space.  I didn't want to run all the way to the bay for a few spotties, so I decided to park next to the puddles and soak an inflated crawler and a chunk of mackerel.

Well, damn... the park was packed!  I found a spot that offered some relief of the crowds and got to work.  I was even casting some bass gear to see if I could find a wayward hog in the area.  I was also hoping there was a stray big trout about since May is usually when the last trout of the season were caught but it wasn't going to be this day.

Every kid walking by had to throw rocks in the water right between my rods.... or the bass guys casting the huge swimbaits right where I casted my baits.  Instead of getting frustrated, I took a gummy.

Then I kept seeing big wakes right around where I casted and kept hoping it was a bass since it was pretty shallow out there.  Then I think I saw the back of one and it looked like a huge carp!  I casted artificials for nothing and didn't have corn so I kept doing what I was doing.

I was sitting in my chair outside the truck since it was way more comfortable.  I shouldn't have been amazed, but I was from all of the people stopping to talk to me.  Very nice people but it wasn't the peace and quiet I was hoping for.  Then I look over the shoulder of the couple talking to me and see my rod doubled over!  Lady is in my way, but as I Barry Sander's her to get to the rod, it dropped it.  It was on the floating crawler so it could have been anything.

Well, I was going to stay until 7:00 (closing time) but I had about enough at 5:00.  These puddles are crowded on the weekends, and I never get home early enough to fish them weekday, so I'm stuck in corporate hell for the time being.  Personally, getting a paycheck is better than not getting a paycheck so I guess I'm fine with it.  The gummy definitely helped.  lol

Until next puddle trip!

My favorite thing about having a boat was being somewhere that there wasn't another soul inside of my horizon. Hope your shoulder is okay after stiff arming the lady!

Also I didn't know you could get skunked! I was starting to think you were somehow immunized from it.

It doesn't happen often, but I hate the thought of skunk... Ugh ... I'm getting rusty from work I assume...

Your wakes were probably carp. They are spawning around now.

Of course, I won't be able to get out and bowfish for a while since I've got vacations coming up and lots of stuff to do before I go. Worse than a skunk. At least you got some fresh air.
