General Board / Getaway To The Sierras
June 29, 2026, 10:10:09 PM
Janie had a week off so we left on June 19th and headed to The Sierras. On our way we made a point to stop and see the places we always say we need to check out, first stop was Kramer Junction, what a cool place this little Museum was 8)

Next stop was actually on The 14 FRWY just a bit out of the way but worth a look, Indian Wells Brewery. They made Beer and Soda.

Since we were not really in a hurry, we gassed up in Bishop, hit the grocery store and decided to try the Canal behind Vons, the cows were in our way :o  Never seen them over here before ::)

It was pretty warm still so we just headed up the hill and met my Buddy up at Tuff Campground and caught a few fish there before heading to The House :)

We got to the house and Tim and his wife went back to Simi Valley, they gave us the place for a week 8)

In the morning I made Breakfast Burritos for Scooby Snacks to take on our daily adventures :)

We drove about an hour up to Bridgeport and checked out The Walker River, Bridgeport Reservoir and Robinson Creek. Found Fish in the creek :D Stopped by Ken's Sporting Goods too, it's a must !

I did BBQ a Tri Tip for Dinner one night, it was good :)

The next couple of days was just sight seeing, hiking and taking in the scenery. We went to most of the Lakes in Mammoth and then up to The June Lake Loop. Saw some cool streams and Waterfalls along the way in between the Lakes.

The scenery never gets old, there is water everywhere !

We went back to The June Lake loop and tried to hit some cool shops, ran into this guy that used to work with Janie's Uncle on the Sport Boats in Dana Point Harbor, small world and he was full of Knowledge  8)

We tried to stop at all the Lodges and General Stores to check them out, I started to collect pins from each place.

On the last day we went back to Robinson Creek, as we were walking out , The Stock Truck showed up with 900 Lbs of fresh Trout :o Time to leave, they ain't going to bite today ;D

Back to Bishop to get some Jerky and Dinner at the Casino :) 103 AT 5:30PM down in Bishop :o Mid 70's up in the hills  ;)

Always have to stop at Tom's Place :)

Time to head back to Valley Center :-\  and on the way, Janie has to stop and look  ;D

I grabbed a few things

Time to unload The Hearse ::)

Hope to get some Salt Action soon 8)

General Board / Sierra Getaway
June 16, 2026, 08:08:40 PM
Well, it's time to head North again, Father's Day and then my Birthday so we are making a week of it in The Sierras. Janie took time off and my buddy gave us the house again so we hope to see some cool places we haven't been to, along with some of the usual places too. Friday morning bright and early is departure time and hopefully gas will come down a bit to ease the pain  :-\  Hope everyone has a great Father's Day this Sunday 8)

Last trip to The Sierras, my bag of Jerky fell out of my backpack along The Owens River :o  I doubled back and found it next to a Cow Patty :o  :o  Saved the weekend  ;D

Looks like a fun session at MB, glad you got your tackle box back, it's a horrible feeling losing gear !

Easy with that shoulder, El Nino is going to give us some good fishing ;)

Looking on the internet, San Diego and North County have multiple places that do boat repair, I guess you just have to go down the list and see who will take the job, hopefully someone closer to you. It sucks that this is turning into a Nightmare !
#11
Ugh !!! These guys are taking all the fun out of boat ownership :(  Hope you find someone willing to do the mechanical part, Jorge is a great repair guy, good luck ;)
#12
So he did get back to you, that's good 8)  I texted him after you said you never heard from him and asked him to to call you. I also never heard back from him so I assumed he was super busy or something, but he is usually good about returning calls, oh well, glad you finally have a plan of attack for the boat, Labor Rates are crazy these days !

Tackle Talk / Re: Tackle Standards
June 09, 2026, 09:01:45 AM
Is this a new Therapy Thread for Tackle Hoes ;D  ;D

It's hard to pass up a new setup even if you don't really need one cause there is always justification for it somewhere somehow. I think I am good with what I have for now but my "eye" is always open when I'm out and about.

Lures are a different story

Recognized with a honk, you got some Street Cred on the water ;D

Omar needs to wake up with a fish head in his pillow case at least once, he will never be a "no show" again :D

A good Spotty session is good for the soul and not so good for the shoulder, hope the shoulder and the boat get resolved soon.
