Thought I'd get some payback from last Sunday's smoke-a-rama. It was slow today, probably due to the runoffs from the rain yesterday. Tide was low transitioning to high. Got my baits out by 7AM. Finally got a knockdown by 9:30 AM by a medium sized bat. I love hooking up bats, they fight hard, and then they clap and give you an applause once you land them. ;D

Say cheese!

Below is the link to last Sunday's hookup. I was soaking some bait at a very high tide. At around 6:30PM I got hit hard. I did got smoked. Almost got spooled at almost lockdown drag. Eventually my 50lb mono topshot busted. I'm quite sure it was a big shark as I could feel the tug and surge of my drag every time it swung its tail to gain speed. Checked my line and it was all scraped up most likely from rubbing against the skin of the monster.

Ooopss, posted the wrong link. Here's the link to the video when I got owned: https://youtu.be/thiYG0QEMq8
After watching the video of the one that got away. It looks like a big bat, it looked like a straight out pull vs. the side to side runs of a shark.

In my experience hooking up bats, they change directions all the time once you've stopped them. I could feel and hear the surge on my drag every time it swung it's tail to get away. Bats don't do that. I guess we'll never know.
