: Shimano Corvalus 400 ?'s
: xjchad June 02, 2015, 04:54:19 p
I just picked up a new Shimano Corvalus 400 for $30
I knew nothing about it, but I figured for that price I should be at least able to resell it and break even if I don't want to keep it.  I've been doing some research online and it seems like it's getting mixed reviews.
What are your thoughts?
If I decide to keep it, what would be the best use for it, and what rod and line should I pair it with?
Thanks guys!

Had one. Won't get another. Didn't stand up to my lack of care. Fished ok til the salt rotted it. I don't blame the reel, but others have lasted me longer.

I've had one. Actually just serviced another one here this past week. They are OK reels. I fished mine with 10 and 12# line throwing 3/8oz to 1oz lures. I found a good rod to pair it with was something in the MH 12-20# range. For $30 you got a good deal. They hold up only as good as you can take care of them. I recommend replacing the factory drags with Carbontex and grease those with drag grease. Also remove the spool bearing shields, blast them with carb cleaner, then relube with a drop of your favorite reel oil. And lastly, pack the handle nut with grease before you screw on the cover, salt loves to build up there.

Thanks for the info guys!
After reading some more and thinking it over, I'm gonna sell it and wait for something that fits my purposes better and will be a little more durable.
