Air was calm. Water level was up alot from my last trip there. There were quite a lot of small plants in the water along the shoreline.
Got there at gray light so I watched for ripples or plants moving. Saw plants twitching but those were only small fish picking away at the plant.
Sun came up and started to see plants leaning. Missed a few and finally connected with one about 8:40.
As the sun got higher I started heading back, retracting my steps I made in the morning. I could start seeing the fish hiding in the plants. Found one section with thicker plant which was holding a dozen or more. Made a good effort to clear them out and got 4 more. The rest of the way back I picked off one more.

Looks like it's going to be a great spawn this year.

Nice cull!
What do you do with them ? Garden fertilizer?
I'm still waiting for your double up on a single arrow!

Did that last year at Big Bear. Three doubles, a triple, and a single one day and another double the next morning.

Fish from Lake Elsinore goes to trash dump
https://www.prehistoricsoulforum.com/index.php?msg=40911
Big Bear Lake has a disposal bin and are quite happy when you keep their lake clean.
Just so happened I was going up to Big Bear after going to Elsinore. Luck me.
And managed two shots on fish with one kill, even though the water was 15° cooler.
Went again to Lake Elsinore for recon on Sunday 3/29. Weather has been in the 90s all week and the water temp supposedly rose 6° to 71°.
Water was calm and the level was up a little from last time.
Grey light didn't show much but as soon as the sun started showing, so did the fish. They were frantically eating along the shoreline. They seemed like they were nibbling around the base of the plants.
I had brought my bow on my back and wanted to use it badly, but I wouldn't have anyplace to dump them.
Saw 100s of fish over the mile or so of shoreline. I could've easily got my 30 fish day. But what to do once I've got them.
I would've looked awfully suspicious taking a trash can full of fish to Big Bear to put in their bin when the water there is still too cold.
I ended up just making some super "airbow" shots and getting doubles and triples. Also got some good video and picture, which i don't do while fishing. So I made the best of the couple hours I had then.
Here's some Carp Candy.

My bad, you did. As Jeffrey Lebowski once said "there's a lot going on in the dooders head". hahaha
Damn, En Fuego! I thought all that lived in Lake Elsinore was cats and carp.
Went to Elsinore ready to load up a trash can on Friday morning, 4/3.
Walked the mile and a half stretch of beach and got one shot on a fish. They were gone. Of course the one shot had an equipment malfunction and it landed on the shore instead on in the carp.
Predictably unpredictable.
Next time hopefully the spawn will be on with close packed groups of fish. 8)

Had better luck Saturday, 4/25. Got there at gray light and finished about 8:30. Nice day out and water was up a little more. As the sun came up the minnow started showing up and so was the carp.

Got 5 and was hitting about 1 out of 3 shots.

This unfortunate guy was the first. He was right at the shoreline and close so I went for the headshot.

My aim is definitely getting better.
