: What a Difference a Few Days Make (10/27)

The yellowtail fishing for me has been pretty hot the last month.  I have more in my freezer than I know what to do with.  LOL

I went with Scott yesterday as we got some fresh intel.  I wasn't expecting so many boats out there, but apparently, they had the same intel.

I let my bait apparently hit the bottom and got instantly hit!  I knew it wasn't a game fish, but thought it may be a shark.  Now I know what has been snapping on my baits when I send them down too low this morning.  I can only envision fields of these crabs sweeping the bottom.

About 20 of these little shrimp fell off the sheep crab when I got it on deck.  I guess they were living on him and grabbing the bits the crab didn't get.

No love for a few hours and we tried a few different spots.  I saw some stuff on the meter and dropped all the way again and was getting the baits bit to pieces.  I finally got one of the bastards.

Not the King Croaker I desired, but a Kin to the Croaker I was looking for.  LOL

Otherwise, we called it at 11:00 with nothing to show except for White Croaker and Crab.

We had a couple of annoying Northern Fulmars attacking my boat.  I'm not sure why, but it was pecking the hell on my motor and even scratching it!

Greasy Calm conditions, but the current changed directions at least 6 times in 4 hours.  Not great conditions for finding Yellows or WSB.

We left our buddies behind and called it the morning.  Until Next tide!

It was a bummer since Scott brought the "Whopper Stopper", a 3' all roller guide rod that was built to tame 400# tuna.  Believe it or not, but I have no doubt the rod could handle it even if the reel would have needed to be bigger.  lol

You have had lots of success lately, bummer there was no love today but that means you have to go back out there again and redeem yourself :)

Good try. That Whopper Stopper is a pretty crazy build. Trinidad is an...interesting pick to match.
