Jeremy and I were talking for a while now to get a Podcast together. There were some cancellations, but we finally found some time to meet up on Superbowl Sunday.
The trip to the bay was pretty sweet from the rear-view mirrors.

I met up with Jeremy and did a podcast while we fished. It was quite fun and I hope everything worked as planned since we were constantly having to stop from people coming over to interrupt us. We figured that might happen.
It will take some time to edit and post it and soon as he's done, I'll keep you posted.
The fun part was getting a nice bat hit while taping. Unfortunately, I didn't get the hook sunk in and it got away, but I rebaited and cast to the same spot.
Not long later and I get one that sticks! The coffee grinder was on full display!

Probably a 60-65 pounder and so much bigger than I've caught in a few years from the shore. I forgot how hard they fight.

That was it. We finished recording without another bite. As we reeled in, we noticed a big ray that followed the bait to the shore then it just swam down the beach. We followed it but could never get a good view of it.
It was great catching up with Jeremy and getting some fishing time in with him. He unfortunately didn't catch anything but had fun fishing on a different body of water.
In any case, It's the best bat signs I've in year. SNBF-XVIII!!!!
I still can't tell if my bat ray fishing in SD County was espionage or traitorous to OC, but I had a great time. That bat cruising at the end gave me the final fin. I still haven't popped into the audio yet but I will probably start tonight. Lots and lots to go through and remind myself of what our wonderful surprise pedestrian guests had to say throughout the morning.
Nice to get my hands slimy grabbing that thing for you at least! It was a pleasure Tom. Can't wait to get back down there with you for another adventure.
So bats still exist
Jeremy, that's pretty cool you have a podcast and that it's SoCal in origin! SoCal doesn't get the cred since Spencer left. I'm gonna start listening to them. I once got an invite to be a guest on a podcast for the surf sharking I was doing, but my introvertedness wouldn't allow it to happen. I passed it along to a buddy of mine.
That is encouraging, now we know they are still around cause it has been a long while for Team San Diego even getting a bite 8)
