I got invited by my buddy to go out and try to catch one of the local homeguards that's been popping up here and there. It wasn't really in my original plan, but at least I could just be the passenger.
We made plenty of green and spanish macks, as well as a bunch of big herring! That was pretty cool to see.

Did I mention it was colder than a witch's tit out there!

Lots of bait and birds, but no signs of gamefish, like anywhere. My buddies thought they were metering them, but after a quick glance at the sonar, knew it wasn't probably what we were after. It was killing me not to be in control of the boat for a few reasons, but I know the drill and I was just a good passenger. ;D

Oh well, they called it really early and we only had a big calico on the iron. Baits went missing a few times, but probably from seals as there were plenty of them bastards around.
Anyway, next time I guess. LOL
It was cold back in December, cant imagine being on the water now :o
Frustrating when your more knowledgeable than the captain, but it nice to just sit back and relax for once. I hear there's squid around...
Tough day. I feel it with the cold. Another good reason for my 7-8am starts. Not a whole lot of captains I would trust these days. If I was them I'd be taking every bit of info and game plan I could get out of you Tom.
