I've heard about this for a long time as I remember when they caught a Goblin Shark munching on a phone line back in the late 90's or something.
I wonder if we could get Chris or Big J to paddle out some baits that far out for us? ;D

I remember that video!! Calling all kayakers!!!
The optical signal needs boosting about every 40 km or so.
The have some wires hauling power to the repeaters that boost the signal.
It creates an electric current that causes the sharks to bite the cable.
It ain't rocket science the writer is a dumba$$.
