Something must be wrong.
Checked out a spot we like. Its been weedy for weeks. It looked pretty good so I set up shop.
Soaked a couple baits for one tiny chunk missing from the corner, but not much action on the bait chewers.
Water was clean, waves were manageable, tide was dropping toward a 730 turn around.
Tom showed up and got a bait in. Still pretty quiet until I saw him grab his rod and assume the position. Slack line bite that resulted in a stolen bait.
Rods sat pretty much untouched until mine dipped and went bendo. Nice run and a tough fight. Turned out to be a nice leopard. Pectoral hooked explained the harder than it should have been fight.

I look totally thrilled by this fish.
Tom had another slack line bite and another that pulled some clicker before Tom was able to pull the bait from its mouth just before it ate the hook. Ugh.
I made a poor decision to try a little closer to the reef. It resulted in a break off. I knew it was a bad landing zone as soon as I tightened up my line after the cast. Tried all my tricks and some of Tom's to no avail.
Called it a night soon after.
Nice leopard too. I'm rustier than hell, or just unlucky with the hook sets. lol
Both you and the kitty look super elated!
Maybe Tom needs to test out the new bar on the patio for good luck ;D
Nothing wrong with that Steve, been a couple years since I've caught a nice leo. Hopefully we'll be back on the long rods soon.......
Rubber hooks don't work, I've tried.
