My day job has a long term service awards program. Lots of stuff, jewelry, yard stuff, tools, kitchen stuff, I don't need or want but then this.
9' foot yak for free. So it is on the way.

Should be good enough for lakes and light enough to carry to the beach. Thinking of using it as a cart to the beach then could yak out bait.
Right on Jim, nice!
Awesome!! I'll be your huckle berry!
The Frenzy is a fun little platform. Yum yum yellow?
9' kayak for free?!?! That's a hell of an awards program!
Nice!
Should be here next week

Time to yak out some big baits!
We'll see when it arrives. Gotta get the hang of it before facing surf.
If you are coordinated you'll be a pro the first time you sit in it.
Nothing to it at all.
Delivery scheduled for Thursday. Got to get a dolly and J hooks for the car to carry.
May go Sunday to drop it in Lake Murray to test drive it. Last time I was on a kayak was pre high school.
Jim
Made it just in time for the deluge.

Looks great Jim!
Got Kayak cart on the way. Got to figure tackle and rod storage and misc as time goes on. Will probably head to Lake Murray Sunday to give it sea trials.

So best laid plans always fall apart. My wife had to take my truck so I had to start installing my roof rack mounts and figure tie downs.
Cart arrived so assembled that and figured where to mount it. So all is a go for next week.
End goal is having it surf ready for next Tuesday since I have some days off.

Mike mention that the MLPA areas allow shore fishing with rod and reel. I'm assuming, but need to ask DFG, based on the wording you can't yak a bait out in there.
Getting technical the rig stays on the beach and once the bait is dropped angler returns to beach to "fish" so all catching is shore based.
To be safe I will hit a non MLPA area with the yak for now.
