I didn't get my big Red Drum out in VA and I haven't had my Heaver double over in a long time from a big surf fish.
I was determined to get out and have something materialize and met up with Steve on a Thursday... as on Tuesday, I was flying back from VA.
First cast Steve hooks into a NICE Leopard shark The problem was there were still surfers in the water and forced him to make some maneuvers to avoid the crowd. The damn shark literally jumped in between all of them. Needless to say, he got her into the skinny water and she popped off for a sportsman's release.
The next few hours were an outgoing tide and really nice conditions. A little salad, but truthfully, there was hardly any. Lobsters GALORE! Ravaging the baits!
I finally grab my rod to get it away from all of the lobster bites when my rod thumps hard and loads up! Fish on! It felt great to battle something big again and in a short time, I got my first fall surf shark of the season! I didn't have my tape, but measured it to the rod. EASILY over 6 feet and a fatty!

Mack Chunk....
Steve got bait ganked by a another and then it got quiet again. The rains were approaching and we called it quits. Damn, I felt good to get that girl on the beach!
It's that time!
Hell yeah Tom, totally stoked to see one on the sand. Conditions suck for at least the next week up here, but I'll be tying leaders 8)
Damn! Tried being first, but at least I know they're back in the suds again! Tme orno sleep again.
Nice guys! Can't wait to get back on the sand!
Good to share some beach again.
You da man, Tom!
It feels like forever since, I've seen a post that wasn't about cat fish. ;D
