No matter what the marine weather forecast is calling for.... if the wind is blowing from the south.... stay home.
Forecast was 10 knot winds or less from the SW. 2-3' W swell at 11 seconds and 2-3' S swell at 20 seconds. Seems pretty easy and I even packed all my trolling gear to fish the 9-mile to have a look see and maybe get lucky with a pelagic.
Wind HOWLING from the south before grey light. Washing machine seas... tried LJ and got the crap knocked out of me. Scored a few rockfish on the yo-yo iron and took a few hours trolling rapalas all the way back. Only thing I could do without taking waves over the side. I thought it was just me that got the crap kicked out of, but a few bigger boats than mine were having troubles also and were telling people over the radio to not drive north unless they want a beating heading back south.
I got in the bay and caught a spotty and called it the day. Good Grief..... Just count on if there is a South Wind blowing... I'M NOT GOING!!!!!
It was windy when I woke up. Every time I heard the wind howl I wondered if you even launched.
Hate days like that!!
Look on the bright side Tom, when's the last time you got towed in? ;D
