Hit up one of my favorite BU beaches hunting for some Checkered Bass.
Definitely needed it this weekend after pulling a 10 hour workday on Sat for a special project.
Today turned into one of those rare days with plenty of fish with many species stopping by to say hello and a sweet surprise first for me as the last fish. Fish were caught on all of the following, LCFM, KM, Daiwa SM, and a swimmie.
All told, I put the following on the sand this morning,
12+ MAC
4 Cuda (up to ~20")
2 YFC
8 Checkers (6 cookie cutter 10" and 1 each 16" and 17")
and the sweet surprise was a beautiful 17" Opaleye caught on a swimbait of all things.
I always hear about people fishing moss or peas on the piers for them, but I don't remember many if any caught from the surf on a lure.

Thanks for reading.

Sweet variety there. I wish we could catch macs from the beach here in SD. Nice opaleye, don't see that caught on a artificial lure much.
Ditto to what Binh said! That's a toad opaleye too!!
Holy crap! That's a huge Opaleye! And on swimmy of all things!
Great report, Ron! Have you long rod fished lately or just small rod surf fishing?
(You need to disable the time stamp though. lol)
Congrats on a stellar day Ron, wish I could have got out yesterday :(
I haven't dusted off the long rods since spring.
I noticed that date as well, forgot to reset the date after changing batteries. So now just decided to turn it off.
:o Wow, that's a huge opaleye! Congrats Ron! Beautiful fish!
Awesome day and HUGE Opaleye 8)
