Hey Guys,
I picked up an Avet SX 5.1 for really cheap. The guy thought it had freespool issues, but after going through it per Alan Tani's site, it seems to be in perfect working condition. It's a neat little reel, but not sure how to best use it.
I'm sure it would be great for boat use, but since I don't have access to fish a boat, what else would it be good for?
Would it be a good reel for a critter set up? If so, what rod would pair well with it?
Thanks!
Good 15-20# reel. I'd pair it with a longer 12-25# or 15-30# "inshore" type rod. Perfect for shore bass/rockfish stuff.
Cool, thanks Len!
Great little reel, but if it's in good working order the free spool is fast. As long as you have a educated thumb, they are great casting reels.
Big fan of avets, looking to buy my fourth here soon.
I think I found a good match for the SX.
A guy on another forum made me a great deal on an 8' Rainshadow 12-25 lb. rod.
Can't wait to try it out!
