3-29-2017
Carl Schmidt
Carl Schmidt just called in from Fisherman's Landing with an update from San Diego, CA. Today the Liberty is out on a 3/4 day offshore trip. They have 13 Bluefin Tuna (20 to 35 pounds) and 15 Yellowtail. Captain Taro is recommending a 25 pound outfit for the Bluefin they are catching today.
3/4 Day Yellows and Blues
Wednesday 3/29/17
UPDATE 3:15pm - The San Diego just called in and are up to 7 Bluefin Tuna now, but the grade of fish that they have been fighting this afternoon have been 70-120lbs. They have hooked 6 of these big boys but have lost all of them to tackle failures. Capt. Ryan suggest bringing a 50# or 60# setup for these big fish with a two speed reel and a fluorocarbon topshot.
Time to pick up some leaders and put on some fresh top shot

I see what you did there, clever!! Lol! Paddle out baits.
You know a fresh bloody tuna head 200 yds out won't take long to get picked up. 8)
Oh you meant for soup, didn't know heads were used for that...
Already have an overnight booked out of Seaforth in July and a 3/4 day out of San Pedro in august. Gona set up a few more when the counts are up.
I have a boogie board and my avet HXW spooled and ready to go. Plan is to fin out to SCI and then head south to the border while trolling macks.
Nice, I may join you 8)

Paddle boards may be faster.
I've been thinking about getting a jet ski.
Nice and compact and you can deck them out with rod holders and a fish finder.

Only problem with that, last I checked, you can't operate them at night even with nav. Lights do a 3-4am departure or morning departure and night return is out of the question. Would be cool within 25 miles, local kelp and spear fishing though.
