If you can get a shark up that close to you why not just get it to take a baited hook so it's releasable. I'm all for keeping what you and your family would actually eat but how many sharks that size can a person consume in a year?  :-\ ??? :'(

I see what you're saying Joe and I mostly agree, but having a little bit of archery and hunting background, I can see the appeal to in that as well.

Yes, I can see the appeal. The one difference is that typically with hunting of large game, you have a very restrictive limit to protect the game population. Unfortunately, with the current state of shark populations, I hate to see a sport evolve where their is no possibility of release. I totally respect their right to do so if regulations allow. I just feel better that when I target sharks, the majority will survive the encounter.
