Headed out this morning and wanted to get some surf fishing in. Light rain and not to much wind. Conditions were pretty good. I cant believe how much sand is gone at that beach. Finding the holes were a lot tougher out there today. Armed with the Luckycraft Sexy Smelt 115MR Ayame Surf Pointer I started casting. Finger reefs all over and could feel the lure dragging the rocks. After a half hour of casting it was time to move. Finally found a spot with some sand and reef and that's when the action started.
First hit was a nice shortie Halibut.

After that hooked onto a nice Calico bass, shook that off and started casting again.
Now I get slammed on my next cast. Feel a nice headshake and drag starts pulling. It was a legal Halibut, I start to pull on it and boom gone just like that. I didn't retie! It didn't even snap off, I Just felt it give away. I should have retied after those two fish. That one hurt. Lesson learned again and again. Ouch!
Went back in and retied and started casting another LC 110 FM and I get a hookup on a Sandbass that was just legal. Released anyways as I was still thinking bout the Hali lost.

Nicely done Joel! Keep those flatties and fatties coming!
Hate getting taught that retie lesson. Still haven't learned it well enough.
Lost another legal Halibut this morning in close, but I didn't lose the lure! I'll take the mix bag of Sandies and Calicos though! Good morning to fish and lots of baitfish around! thanks guys.
