After the sub-spectacular Tuesday sesh I rolled out with my buddy willis to soak some fresh macks he had from a trip to the kelp. Got to the sand bout 10 mins after sunset and had bait in the water by 730. Swapped out a head for a tail after a couple 20min soaks and within 5 mins my baitrunner was screaming and it was on! Nice lil fat mama Leopard slid up the skinny!

Sent her back into the agua and rebaited, and waited, and recasted, this went on for 45 mins or so b4 willis had his tail get slammed with a serious screamer, seemed like it might have been the right kind but after a short fight and a lil drag tightening up slid my Leopards big boyfriend.

Well there's sharks in the area, so we kept soakin and drinkin sculpins and as I was swapping out baits willis gets a basslike bite on a mack head and brings in a lil bass after he thought he farmed the lil bassterd 3 times lmfao!

Species count got bigger but not the target species, we kept on soakin and stickin it out waiting for that huge bite and sure enough round 1115 as we said 15 more mins we were gathering our stuff and sayin how good of a night it was willis' rod goes ballistic! He was further away than I was and I ripped his rod out of the holder and handed it to him as he sprinted towards me and layed the wood to the monster! He proceeds to get his ass handed to him for the better part of the fight an initial 1st run of 100+yds at a pretty good clip. I thought it might have been a soupie but he said he didn't feel alot of tail slap but more like a seabass and it was running straight west! After he turned it though it ran almost straight back to us and after bout 5 mins I could wee what appeared to be a wing and long tail, yup it was a bat! Kinda bummed us out but it was willis' new surf caught PB bat so not a complete downer.

I had reeled my rod in to give him some space so we called it a night after that, since we had a 25min drive to the hood and both had to be up at 5 am. Not a bad way spend a Thursday night, definitely gonna be back out when the conditions are good!
