After being encouraged by Joe's reports I took Tony out last night for a short session (school night) looking for bats. My first hookup ended up in a 35 minute tug o war, even passing the rod off to Tony twice (getting too old for this crap). When I got to the water's edge to do the "sand hand" duty I saw the beast, had to be mid 50's. Long story short as soon as I started to reach for the shock leader it broke my 60# fluoro leader. After that Tony landed 6 of them up to 45", had one break the hook and another he couldn't stop (close to spooling him on his SSV 7500). All in all we had about a dozen screamers with 3 being true monsters. They're a few weeks late but at least they're showing up ;D
Bummer about loosing the monster, but I couldn't be happier for you Verne!
You definitely deserved a session like that! 8)
When you but gets kicked and you can't bear to hook another you cannot beat that type of session. Congrats Verne!
Jim
Better late than never!!
Glad you finally got into them.
Excellent, glad to see you finally got some Batisfaction...Next on the agenda, finding us a soupie spot for this year..
Joe
Glad to hear you got to pull on something. These bats will be sticking around for a while.
Nice report Verne! Glad you hooked up. Now you know they're around. 8)
Right on Verne! Bin wondering when they'd show up?
I bet it was worth the wait. That's is a lot of action for a short session.
