Went out last night with Joe to try to put another Grinner on the sand. Caught a little round stinger and a medium size wiggles on the light line. Hooked into this fatty batty about peak flood. Was a nice 30 min plus battle. Been a while since i hooked a bat, forgot how much heart those things have! Officially my first bat from the surf! Nice fish 2 trips in a row! Im lovin the luck!

Yup on the 30-60 calstar with the squall. Absolutely love how much heart those things got. Cant tell you how many times i had that thing 30yds away and it peeled off another 50-70yds. Lot of respect to joe for all the time he spent in the water trying to sand that beast!
Must of walked us close to a 1/4 mile altogether with the 100 yards south, 200 yards north, 150 yards south etc. routine, you did a great job of turning it though Paddy, for sure alot better than 1000 yards in one direction into structure...Sandhandin's alot easier when there's a 100 shock leader to grab on to. I was so happy when I asked how heavy your shock leader was and you said 100#...good answer, and good catch...I'd guess your arms are a bit sore today, hahaha
Till next time, Peace
JOE
En Fuego!!!!!!

Thanks for the kind words joe! I do like the 100lb shock leader. The knots i like to use (uni to uni & palomar) tie very nicely with the 100lb, i see no need to use anything lighter. When i caught that 7gill i couldn't believe how badly that leader was tore up too. Like taking 80 grit sandpaper to it. I had heard that it happens, but I guess i thought it would be a lot less substantial.
