Glad the tide didn't run you off. Congrats.
Did much better than we did, 5 guys and 5 rods for 5 hours last night. Lots a bait stealers and a few smelt and thornbacks caught. Highlight of the night was a 18" bat............. :o
Small surf, zero grass, no wind, great company= good evening. What did the leo take? Verne
Sweet! Way to make it work!
It's been a while since even a leopard was beached. Excellent job!
Nice Kitty! What kind of bait did it end up takin?
Nice one bro
Nothing wanted fish. The octopus got mauled and the Leo took squid.
Used about a pound of squid feeding the ecosystem and recycled a fair bit of old bait.
The 2 big hits were about 5 minutes after the bait was in the water and pulled a few yards of line and dropped it. Since the bait was bitten in half I knew it was a shark. Used some old line shy catfish tricks the next cast and scored.
Tossed a hunk of bonito out after and got nothing. Rebaited with squid and cast about 1 second and a buried loop hung up the reel and everything broke off. :(
While I had stuff to retie it was 10:30 and after working a 12 hour day figured the fish gods were telling me to not be greedy.
Definitely going to hit that locale again next trip out when the tides and surf allow. Either I hit that Leo in the head on those 3 casts or he wasn't the only one hunting.
Jim
That's the first Leo in some time. Way to stick it out.
